Hot on the heels of the Encircle Scope, Video Summaries, and Item Descriptions, this new feature brings even more AI-powered efficiency to your day-to-day—cutting out a ton of manual data entry by pulling readings straight from your photos.
Turn photos into data—instantly
Instant Reading Capture is powered by Encircle AI and uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to automatically “read” digital meter screens right through the photo capture. No more typing in values by hand—just snap a photo and let Encircle handle the rest.
With this feature, you can instantly pull:
- Temperature
- Moisture Content (MC)
- Relative Humidity (RH)
Built for the tools you already use
This feature works with a wide variety of industry-standard digital moisture meters and thermo-hygrometers—so there’s no need for special equipment or integrations. Just the tools you’ve already got.

You’re in control
Still prefer doing things manually? Totally fine. You can turn this feature on or off whenever you want from the User Preferences menu:
- Open the mobile app and head to User Preferences.
- Go to the Camera Settings section.
- Find the OCR Readings toggle and flip it to Off.

Nope! No special hardware or third-party integrations needed. Just use the moisture meters and thermo-hygrometers you already have.
Right now, Instant Reading Capture can extract three types of data:

The feature is built to minimize the kind of errors that come with manual data entry—misread digits, typos, and inconsistencies. That said, photo clarity matters—good lighting and a steady shot will get you the best results.
